Humble Beginnings

Impound Rumble is an upcoming indie platform fighter developed by tafaar, a solo developer handling everything except for music - and that means everything from art, animations, and character design, to programming, netcode, balance, and yes; this website.

Initially, Impound Rumble was meant to just be my senior project for college with a silly story based on the time my car got towed during finals week. After a year of development, the game is in an alpha state with buttery-smooth rollback netcode for online play, 4 initial functional characters, and proof of concepts of some unique gameplay mechanics that are inspired from over a decade of competition and both love and frustration with the state of the genre.

Planned Content and Features

In short: Impound Rumble isn’t going to be a ranked matchmaking simulator.

Core For Release:

  • At least 8 playable characters

  • Singles, doubles, free-for-all, and other silly modes

  • Unlockable short stories, costumes, and bonus content

  • Multiplayer co-op arcade adventure mode with up to 4 players (duh)

  • “Turbo Meter” and “Turbo Mode”

  • Dynamic stage layout changes during combat
